Lapp: @Gomenasai: American accents = 10,000
And then the majority of Americans can't tell the difference between accents of other English-speakers, and seem to simply address "Cockney" as the official accent of Britons. So yes, all Britons reading this, you're a cockney. Well, that or you speak dyslexic nonsense Welsh. Or the slurred and FAS-damaged Glaswegian-talk.
That feel when I offend everyone at once. I just find it funny that English-speakers always have a hard time differentiating accents, is all. ;<
Lapp: @Gomenasai: I suppose since accents mostly only change the pronunciation in American English; the grammar (or at least correct grammar) is always the same. I might be more nit-picky since differing regions of romance languages like Italian and Spanish can virtually be language barriers of their own, even with the same language. I probably have been conditioned over time to register accent-region more cognizantly. :<
From what I can tell, very few people anywhere understand the Australians...including the Australians. I just call Australia "Redneck Britain", but my political correctness has already been discredited. c;
I'm curious, is it more or less the same with Russian as Romance languages? I imagine that such distance can create a significant enough element of isolation and variation that it would be pretty different. And you told me that Russian was heavy in English loanwords (which I still feel ashamed for being so ignorant on the topic), but I'd imagine that isn't as strong in the East towards Manchuria or Southwest-ish towards Chechnya and other Caucasus regions...
...okey imma stop sounding like an essay now and just ask.
Well, or if you speak Polish, that too, or if that's just in bloodline-heritage, ignore this.
Anonymous6(1): @Lapp: Russian has become very unified in the last couple decades. All major and relatively populated cities share the same pronounciation, deviating dialects can be found only in some country boonies and close to borders. You're probably right about the loanwords, Ukraininan has significantly less of them. Don't know about Polish, I'm the only one in my family fluent in more than one language.
Anonymous11(10): @Gomenasai: You probably are because if that is Russian -and it's not- it's the worst Russian accent in histiry, almost as bad as Marlon Brando the space brit.
