Mac76: I've noticed something about this show. For some reason, some characters have five fingers and others have four on each hand.

Anyone know why?

anomalous: Someone interpreted the number of fingers as a gauge of a character's "innocence". So the more innocent a character is, the less fingers they have - Dipper and Mabel have four, Grunkle Stan has five, and the numbered books have six. Or maybe it's just for shits and giggles. Or part of the plot later on. I dunno.

Anonymous4: From an animation point there may quite literally be no point. The concept of four fingers in cartoons was to cut corners when animating and make it easier and it developed from there.
