Cat_Bountry: "Rage's PMRC protest at Lollapalooza '93
In the Philidelphia, PA stop of Lollapalooza in 1993, Rage further elevated their notoriety, when they created a protest against censorship and the PMRC, by standing on stage completely naked for a total of 14 minutes, with the bass and guitar feedback buzzing.
They put duct tape over their mouths, and the letters, "P" "M" "R" "C" written on the four band members chests. Tom said, "It was to show that if the fans didn't take matters into their own hands, they wouldn't be able to see bands like us." It wasn't meant to be a "feel good" protest. It was to wake people up to a reality haunting the artistic community. The PMRC (Parents Music Resource Center) was founded by Tipper Gore, who is the leader of the anti-music hate group, and now has more power and visibility than ever as the Vice Presidents wife. The PMRC established the 'Parental Advisory' sticker that is put on cases of albums, and are trying to classify it as the legal definition of obsenity. Rage didn't play a single note at the Philadelphia show that day, but came back later that year to play a free show."
This just infuriates me. If you want to stand up for free speech, than do something that is artistic- like, well, PLAYING A FUCKING SONG. Don't show off your pug fugly bodies! This is worse than toddlercon.
Anonymous7: To Anon5:This was a way to get people to see whatwhat rage has done
To Anon6:This protest was to show how PMRC was basically raping the music industry
Anonymous9: Frank Zappa testifies in front of lawmakers and the entire nation at his own time and expense in Congressional hearings on censorship (frequently going up against Tipper herself) throughout the 80s.
RATM refuses to play music for a paying crowd, instead showing them their tiny white penises for 14 minutes, in some sort of "protest" that brought way more attention to them than it did to the issue of censorship.

In a later interview, he said that the only thing that bother him about the protest was the size of his penis. He swore it was bigger.
