Anonymous3: A fantastic European comic series from the 1950s. Both characters were real English gentlemen and, typical for the time, pipe smokers. They were best friends and in retrospect a bit stuffy, but they had the wildest adventures - the albums The Time Trap! The Yellow Sign!
"Hello, chap, glad to see you"
"Heavens, how do we get out of here!"
"Damn, we have to stop him!"
Neither the Professor and the Captain from the British Intelligence were married. Yet I never had the idea that in real life the guys could have had a homosexual relationship. As a young boy I didn't even know what that was! But when Professor Mortimer in the album The Atlantis Enigma undressed to dive into a submerged cave corridor only wearing a black undie and his shoes (no socks) I STARED. It was the first time I saw Philip's more private skin. Of course he had no chest hair - comic book artists reserved that for the Bad Guys - but EP Jacobs had given Philip two very black NIPPLES. Nipples were taboo, too "suggestive" (no kidding). I suddenly became very aware of my own knobbies!
So Professor Mortimer actually provided me with my first fap.
