As well as Cetrion herself later. And Kronika who is even above all of them dies. Plus this is all rewound from a point in time after Armageddon where Shao Kahn won and the elder gods can’t do jack shit. So that statement is provably false across the board.
I don’t know where that idea of gods being unkillable came from, who came up with it or why but it really is a sign of writers not doing their homework, not caring and just writing whatever they feel like without having anyone proofread their work. Anyway the lore and continuity is messier than it’s ever been but hey, fun I guess.
