Sassafras: Rey - mirAvi Tribute. Mid 2008, I stumbled upon the concept of rule 34 thanks to two artists, mirAvi and Shabby Blue, who had been producing Star Wars themed porn art since the 90s. I was inspired to take up drawing thanks to the artistry of their work, and while Shabby continues working on pieces to this day, mirAvi stopped in 2010, signing off with a beautiful Leia artwork based off the Shadows of the Empire line. He’s still alive, Last I heard from Shabby, just not drawing anymore, and I miss his art. So I set out to make this tribute to him and his work, featuring Rey, in a pose and style rather similar to his finale. Took a lot of work but surprisingly not as much as I’d have thought, completing Rey herself in about 4 hours.
Anonymous1: Wow, just wow. I can definitly see some Miravi mixed with you style. Nice to see there is some kind of next generation of SW porn artists xD
Anonymous4: this is not a tribute, that would be drawing something that follows the original concepts and styles of the artist. and is NOT "similar". you downright drew over the original art and signed your name to it to suit your needs. i dont get how there are artist who dont understand how shitty this is. Thousands upon thousands of pieces are being stolen, redrawn, and claimed by other people and getting credit for it, and just because ONE thing is changed, in this case its Rey instead of Leia, that justifies claiming it as your own.
Sassafras: @Anonymous: I get how you're feeling but I didn't trace this from Miravi's Leia original, you can overlay the two to see for yourself. It'd be pretty foolish of me to straight up trace the original, and it would make absolutely no sense as the two characters are completely different proportions wise.
For hundreds of years artists have paid homage or tribute to other artists, look at how many copies and reproductions there are of the great artist's works. This is done to pay tribute or respect to the originals or as an educational exercise, which this was. I had intended to draw an original pose but I went with this instead, something that was significant and recognisable as a miravi drawing, studying their techniques and style. I'm not stealing his work or anything malicious.
In a way it's good you respect the original and Miravi that you feel so strongly about this.
