Anonymous10: This could have gone a lot worse.
I am now filled with dark curiosity as to whether or not we'll get off so well come Christmas (or whatever other December holiday you find 34 for.)
ChaosInuYasha: Man this pic makes me wanna find pics of Pocohantas (the disney version not the actual person). If real native american babes were as hot as her (or the one in this pic) I'd let them partake of my peace pipe hehe
Anyway Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Casperthy_Frendligost: Actually her real name was NOT Pocahontas. THAT was a nickname meaning "spoiled sausage". As for the John Smith incident, it was more or less scripted. It was given to Pocahontas to make the choice: should John Smith become the adopted son of the king (Powhatan, ruler of 16 tribes in Maryland) or should he die? She chose the former.
After the troubles with the white man, Powhatan abandoned a ~300 yr old ceremonial center and the years since almost erased all trace of it.
Beatstick: I see the meaning. White Pilgrim female brings Syphillis, while Indian Girl taking it in the ass is a reference to everything white man has done to the Indian Nations since.
Anonymous35: You guys and this pic are fucked up and depressing can't just leave them alone huh and let me remind you the native were not full on rapists like the colonist the Indians weren't pure by any means but they sure as hell were better people overall.
Anonymous36: Native's always getting fucked in the ass by the white man..BTW the "Pocahontas" (Matoaka) story is largely made up by the English to paint themselves in a better light. The Powhatan tribe even tried to assist Disney to make their adaption more factual and accurate, but they were rejected.
Urbane_Guerrilla: @Anonymous: Some research would tell you to abandon that view. Pretty much everybody was brutal. Fact is, they could have taken notes and given useful tips.
Like, "Late in winter, you can ward off scurvy by eating tender newgrowth pine needles before they harden up. Or brew the older needles as an antiscorbutic also (I think you'd have to drink a lot, though)."
Anonymous39: @Anonymous: That's an enormous generalization so it's obviously wrong. How are the Iroquois, one of the most powerful nations in Eastern North America, perpetrators of a half a dozen genocides in southern Ontario and the Midwest during recorded history, better people than the colonists? I think you're just saying that because the natives lost out in the long run, neither "side" was any better than the other, morally speaking, in most conflicts that occurred.
Especially during this period, the power dynamics were completely different from the way the were in the late 19th century.
