tyciol: re slumbering, the Ter'angreal called the "twisted stone ring" was a "Sleepweaver" and was given to her by Verin in the 3rd book (Dragon Reborn)

Egwene was born in 981 so by the time of that book in 999 she would be 18.

The first book takes place in 998 when she was 17 - no idea where Anon6 got the idea of her being 14.

There is a prequel story called Ravens where she's nine, but AFAIK it jumps from nine to seventeen.
