This is not Daphne Blake of the Scooby Doo Crew, but rather the nymph Daphne, who, when chased and almost taken by Apollo, appealed to one of her parents (who exactly varies with which version of the myth you read) and was turned into the Laurel tree. I'm not sure its an accurate depiction of the Laurel, but the general idea is clear.
