Demonique: Anon4, it's because the final panel implies Shepard didn't survive the encounter (it's from the scene where a romanced Garrus puts her name on the Memorial Wall in the extended cut). Shadow in the third panel to me looks like Bakara is launching herself at them.

Seems to me that Shep didn't survive her landing on them
