One thing we haven't considered, could the Zora actually be water mammals like dolphins? In the very least I think they're amphibians, seeing as how King Zora was okay sitting out of water for inifinite amount of time.

Rhulad: Link could stay underwater for a long time, even without the tunic (depends on his lifebar). I can't remember exactly how long it went, but at least a minute or two. So... a quicky, but not fatal. Unless she is not satisfied, of course.
