Soemele: Hm, I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard that the law was actually repealed a while ago, but they still do it out of habit.

Anonymous5: The law you are discussing was repealed. It basically said they couldn't show pubic hair.

The one currently on the books, is that if the image is intended for a non-japanese audience. (EX: someone not living in japan) then it must be censored.

There is not, however, any information on how it is to be censored, resulting in the many many methods we've seen on just this site.
