FFSB: @Anon1, most drum sticks are lacquered, so it'd be really, **REALLY** hard to get splinters from it. This is jointly to keep the drumsticks from injuring the drummer's hand, and to provide a solid grip, since plain wood isn't as easy to hold onto. So, no splinters. :)
