Anonymous1: Remember the first MK movie where Linden Ashby was supposed to be the goofball funny man? That version of Johnny Cage would probably play the straight man next to some of the later iterations of the character. Gotta give the actor and writer props for showing some restraint and subtlety in not going overboard with the jokes so you can actually take him serious when the time calls for it. IMO comedy kinda has to feel natural and effortless. When it’s forced and doesn’t land, it can be quite awkward and uncomfortable like a sitcom without a laugh track. I think that’s why for a lot of people, Bill Murray was their favourite Ghostbuster, he just made being funny look easy.
I don’t hate the later versions of JC though, he just comes off kind of obnoxious sometimes even if that’s sort of the point to him.
