Anonymous5: Why not? Have you watched the movies or read between the lines of Rowling's childish sniping/moralizing? Pansy is hot, much hotter than the Weasley girl. Just Google Genevieve Gaunt and Bonnie Wright. If you would choose Ginny over Pansy, just chop your dick off now, man. The /least/ Harry could do is get some on the side since "he" (well, Rowling) picked the ugliest (peer) female in the entire Potterverse to marry.
evilpika: Solely on the context of the actresses chosen, Pansy is hotter. I don't know about in the books, I can't remember Pansy getting that much description. Of course, I didn't even catch that the girls the took to the dance were supposed to be Indian until the movie, so what do I know.
Malingerer: Hermione is described as plain, bushy, and bucktoothed by characters that dislike her. In some respects, they're right. She doesn't bother with her looks or makeup and, until she gets them fixed, has buckteeth.
Hermione is described as hot at the dance.
Pansy is described as pug-faced by characters who dislike her. Odds are she just has a short, upturned nose and a habit of sticking it in the air and sneering at people she dislikes, which would only make it look worse.
Pansy is described as pretty in the Daily Prophet by Skeeter, who has no real reason to flatter anyone.
You be the judge. I'm betting she's reasonably good looking to average, if short-nosed. Maybe even grew out of it. If she were ugly, they would have found something better to pick on than her nose (and if THAT had been all that bad, they'd have probably referred to her as "pig-nosed").
For young Pansy, think, maybe... young Christina Ricci? Or the two actresses who played her in the movies, both looked appropriate for the part IMHO.
Anonymous8: thank you Malingerer for setting the more vulgar viewers straight.
Both can be seen as average, some flaws and some plus's.
And as for the moralizing, Anon5, isn't that better than writers who only differentiate between characters by their appearance, leaving them all blank? Also, how is it childish for people to judge other's on their personalities over their appearance? that's nonsense.
