Anonymous12: Actually the whole back tingling thing, when you think about it, makes sense, and it's not exactly a new concept. If anger or heightened emotion were the only way to turn Super Saiyan, how come the Goku and the others don't need to be angry EVERY time they transform? How come, after the first time, could Goku just turn Super Saiyan at will when cool as a cucumber? It's because, after the first time, he knew what going Super Saiyan felt like. His body remembered it, so he would just recreate that feeling. So, if someone who had never gone Super Saiyan before was told what it felt like, they could in theory recreate that feeling to do the same thing as the other Saiyans who transform at will. Since Caulifla was described as a prodigy, this makes more sense.
And it makes sense that it would be a tingling in the back. I took that as a tingling in the spine. I'd imagine that going Super Saiyan is caused by a signal from the brain being sent throughout the rest of the body, which is connected via the spine. I feel like this was just Toriyama thinking about "Hey, Saiyans can now transform at will, so why not expand on that?". The way Cabba described it might be a little... mundane, but Goten and Trunks already kinda made the transformation mundane when they effortlessly did it at ages 7 and 8 lol.
