Not necessarily. Most diseases are particular about the species they infect (as here on Earth; a swine or bird disease must mutate before it infects people). The suits are precautionary and necessary if they're going to live long term outside the flotilla, but taking the suit off for a short time is very unlikely to be detrimental.
Believe it or not, this was info relayed from ME writers by an ME rep in a discussion thread.
Anonymous14: Well, if she cant take off her suit and bang, she should woo Shepard into the fleet that their species travels in (sterile environment) and make Shepard go through some sort of "disenfecting" bath. After that its baby-making time.
Anonymous15: anon12, her SHINS are behind her. she has purple skin, as evidence by the planet with thresher maws look at the mariens and you can pop in her helmet.
Anonymous24: 15, 19 --- take another look -- wrong about her shins and knees.
Here BOOTS come back up from her calfs quite far -- not her LEG.. the only thing about her is that she has LONG, CURVED shins... the KNEES go forward, and the shins do too. Her shins are simply curved or bowed... that's it. (and that three fingered, three toed thing... heh).
just dumbfounded

Her skin is purple also, we found a glitch where her helmet was off and, well, purple skin.
