Anonymous7: Some of the names in FFTA are french words. Marche is french for Walk, Malheur is french for tragedy, and various other words are used more frequently in french rather than in English. MOAR YOU KNOW.

There several references to many languages. Marche is insanely close to Märchen, which means "fairy tale," in German; Ritz is English for "a display of ostentatious elegance;" Montblanc is french for "White mountain;" Mewt is named after the English word "mute;" and Ezel is Dutch for donkey (which is what he looks like), but also means 'fool,' which is what many Nu Mou concieved him as.

hentaiboy2: Actually, Montblanc can also be translated as 'White and Fluffy', which makes more sense, considering that he's a Moogle.
